Bucket List

I am almost to my 2 month mark....until I leave NYC. This is not by choice let me tell you but due to visa issues, I am leaving the east coast and headed to Utah to hang for a few months till I figure out what to do next. I do have some things I need to get done before I leave, here they are:

1. Yankees Game in the new Stadium (May 01 vs LA Angels)

2. Attend the Brooklyn Art Galleries

3. "Chicago" on Broadway

4. Try for the "Wicked" lottery on Broadway

5. Run the Brooklyn Half Marathon - starts at Coney Island

6. Frick Museum

7. Cloisters

8. Guggenheim

9. Eat at the Marriot Revovling Restaurant

10. Kayak the Hudson River

11. Roosevelt Island Tram

12. UN

13. Graffiti Tags in Queens

14. Eat Cafe Habana

15. Tudor City Plaza - The Bourne Ultimatum

These are just some of the things I have come up with today, there might be more, but these are the ones I need do!

I Wear My Sunglasses at Night

This city truly is the city that never sleeps. Friday night I was able to go up the Empire State Building and the view was amazing. I had been up before about two years go on my very first trip to the big apple, bit I didn't enjoy it nearly as much. I guess sleeping at the Borders store right before did not get me in the mood I needed to be in. After waiting in line for an hour (which when they told us this, we all scoffed and said ya right) we made it to the top and beheld Manhattan in its glory. I am still uncertain which time I like best, but it should be on everyones bucket lists!

Late Night Text....

I have the cutest nephews around and you can argue with me all you want but I do! Here are picture texts my sister sent me, love these kids!

Crumbs=Deliciousness

Today for my lunch break I didn't go to the gym due to losing my keys with my gym pass (I think its in our hotel back in DC) so I decided to walk down 5th Avenue. Of course I knew upon going that I might have a stop at my favourite cupcake place here in the city, "Crumbs". I was hoping for a key lime cupcake. I was also looking for the Artie Lange flavour that came recommened from a friend. Now for those of you who don't know I am a huge sucker for anything pistachio and behold my eyes, they had a new flavour out, PISTACHIO. I have yet to taste it but it looks SO GOOD!!! Here is a little sample of these "who cares how many calories" goodness!

Half Marathon - check!

This past weekend some of us from the Manhattan 8th ward made a trip to DC to run in the Suntrust (plug for the sponsor) 1/2 Marathon. It was my first half marathon and not my last. It was an awesome experience, but a painful one too. I am not sure how people run full marathons. Here are some pics to highlight the trip.

Almost Spring, How Do I Know?

It's because of this frozen treats truck called "Mister Softee". My first encounter with this magic truck was on Broadway and 68th. I had just gotten out of Mamma Mia (the movie, which is way better than the broadway show) with my friend Maria and she said we should stop and get a cone. This truck had the best soft serve ice cream. Maria and got different kinds and I loved them both. It just so happend that we were walking south to Columbus Circle and we hit another Mister Softee at oh like 63rd and I had to try another ice cream. This one too was soo good that when we reached Columbus Cirlce there was yet another truck so what did I do, purchased another ice cream. I am sure Maria was re-thinking her decision of having passed on my resume and helped me get my foot in the door at my current employment. Of course NYC has many little treat trucks to offer (like the one down in the East Village that Russell keeps talking about), but Mister Softee will always have a place in my heart and arteries!!!

PS - this is located on my street corner, 108th and Broadway, woot woot!

For Real?

I found this sign while I was walking home from the grocery store today. It was on 76th and Broadway I believe. I have always heard you can get fined for honking here in NYC, here is actual proof!

Slow DOWN!

Tonight my friend Jane and I made our way to the temple in NYC for FHE. The temple doubles as our church building for those who don't know. The first, fourth and fifth floors are the temple and the second and third floors are the chapel and classrooms. We got into the elevator with a cute couple who started asking us about the distriubtion centre. We told them it was closed and then asked if they were from NYC. They said they were visiting but wanted to check out the Temple. We got to talking and then they said, "well, you might know who we are?" Jane and I looked at each other with puzzled looks and replied, "um..no, why would we?" They began to explain that they had been on the Today Show (which films in my work building) because they had just gotten engaged. They then told us that the reason they were on the show was because the engagement ring was put in the girls milkshake and she ate the whole thing without noticing the ring, she swallowed her ring people! The guy then pulled out his Iphone to show us the x-ray, Jane and I were dying! Check out the clip.

Snowstorm....Really?

I do love snow, but really, this so-called snowstorm and the closing of schools and people freakin' out, c'mon, its not that bad. Maybe its because I have to be at work while others get to be lazy bums. I took this picture from my cell phone this morning right out side my apartment building door. ALright, so a few cars might slip'n'slide here and there, but just strap on those snow tires and giddy up!

Saturday was a beautiful day where I got to wear just a short sleeved t-shirt and bask in some glorious sun. This was the perfect way to relieve some stress of driving a huge-ace 16 foot Budget Rental truck for some friends. I am not complaining on helping the girls move (alina and anna), but it was an adventure driving in NYC and squeezin between double parked moving vans and taxi's, God bless mr. tony j for being the eyes in the back of my head! The move was a success and the afterparty with pizza and treats was awesome, thanks girls!
